“The trouble with wisdom is that the exam usually comes first; answers come later."
It takes about five years for a new dentist to understand the basics of what he or she is doing, then another ten years to get a clear picture of the whole field, if said dentist is curious enough. Then one must stay current, because dental materials, machines, and methods are always changing.
Staying current is the most challenging thing I do--also the most rewarding. It has made it possible for me to understand laser gum surgery, TMJ and myofascial pain problems, implants and bone grafts, orthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, sedation dentistry, and of course, general dentistry. Understanding the whole picture helps me see what is possible to make you look and feel better and healthier. It means there is something I can do to improve your life.
Words come easily. It’s what we do at Smile Tucson that counts. Come check us out.
We recognize that all of our patients are unique and deserve to receive dental care that reflects their individual needs. We are pleased to welcome you and your family, and we look forward to working with you.
I’m a native of Saint Petersburg, Russia, but since 2002, I’m happy to make my home in Tucson, AZ. I earned my degree in Dentistry from First Pavlov State Medical University of St. Petersburg in 1998, and Associates in Dental Hygiene from Pima Community College in 2007.
I have over 30 years of experience in dental field, helping my patients regain and maintain their oral health and confidence in their smile. I use any opportunity to continue my education through my career and keep a progressive view of treatment options for my patients. My patients’ comfort and satisfaction are very important to me! Making sure to listen all of your needs and answering any questions you may have. Together we can achieve and maintain your healthy smile.
I grew up in Sierra Vista, Arizona. As soon as I graduated from high school I had aspirations of becoming a dental hygienist. I attended Pima Community College where I played basketball and studied to be a dental assistant. Once I finished the dental assisting program I was able to go directly into the dental hygiene program. During hygiene school I was elected class president by my peers. I graduated in 2003 and immediately began helping people change their perception about coming to the dentist. Patients have told me they truly love coming to the office for their cleanings! I have been in the dental field for 15 years and I truly love my job. I take great pride in delivering a wonderful and calm experience, helping you achieve maximum oral health and maintaining your smile. I have been given the wonderful opportunity to work alongside Dr. Ricks, and the exceptional staff at Smile Tucson Family Dentistry. I am a people person and I love learning all about our patients!
I am a mom to two wonderful kids that keep my husband and I very busy. We enjoy camping, traveling and every aspect of sports. With extended family living near me I get to spend a lot of time with my two nephews.
I was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona. In 2009, I graduated from Pima Medical Institute with a certificate in Dental Assisting. What I enjoy most about being a dental assistant is having the chance to meet new people. There is nothing better than working at a place where you can be your true self, get to know patients individually, all while having fun and sharing some laughs throughout each day. I find helping patients gain confidence in their smile is what I love most about being a part of Smile Tucson.
When I’m not at work, I love going to concerts, being outdoors, going to sports events and trying new recipes with my daughter as my little helper, and making sure to take time for dance breaks in the process (Because actually, I am a really good dancer, but only when I’m in my kitchen ha-ha). Happily married with two beautiful children, a son and a daughter. I’m an animal lover and has 2 dogs and 2 turtles.

My name is Courtney Perez. I am the mother of two amazing little dudes ages 9 & 4. They are my whole world. We are huge family people, so if we’re not home, we’re probably hanging out with other family members.
I was born and raised here in Tucson, AZ. Grew up on the Southwest side of town. I have three sisters and one brother, I am the oldest.
My sisters and I were homeschooled for a large portion of our lives, so I became a pretty big fan of many forms of art. So I tend to play with clay, charcoal, and spray paints. Being homeschooled also got me into video games. So I went to the Art Institute of Austin for about a year, came back to spend more time with the family I had left here, so I transferred to AI of Tucson for another year, then decided dentistry was a bit more reliable job wise for my soon to be child at the time, and so I went into dental assisting.
I have always loved helping people, and as a kid I would always beg my sisters if I could pull their teeth out when they started to wiggle, and I would brush my friend’s teeth if I didn’t think they did a good enough job…sounds totally weird saying that now but…it happened. My parents had such bad experiences at dental offices when they were kids, I myself have anxiety, so it made me want to be that person that can understand and have the right amount of empathy needed for people like us.
I’m working here at Smile Tucson Family Dentistry thanks to a mutual friend, and I can’t even express how blessed I am to be working here. I absolutely love my job, and everyone I get to work with.
In 2000 earned my Associates in Applied Science in Administrative and Office Support Careers from Pima Community College. I ventured into the dental field when I joined Smile Tucson Family Dentistry team in 2005. Over the years, I have immensely enjoyed learning and becoming adept at the detailed aspects that a front office administrative staff member performs. I have especially appreciated all of Smile Tucson’s wonderful patients and getting to know them. It is always my personal mission to be our patients’ advocate in all things dental.
I am married and have a daughter. On my days off from work, I enjoy cycling with my husband and friends, playing volleyball and backyard bird watching. I treasure my time spent on sewing, cross stitching, reading and researching my genealogy which seems to be a never-ending effort!
I am from Yuma, Arizona and moved to Tucson when I was 13. I graduated high school in 2018. I started working here in December of 2019 and have loved it ever since. I’m so thankful for all the opportunities that this job has brought me. I’ve met amazing patients who have shared their experiences and learned so much from my trusted colleagues.
Outside of work, I am an artist with different mediums but my main focus is acrylic and I love complicated pieces. I have a puppy named Apollo who is black lab and a complete sweetheart who loves to explore with me and go on adventures.
